Trip East

We had a great trip east to visit our families and introduce Calla. As usual, it was a whirlwind visit since we were all there only 5 days, and then Sara and Calla stayed on for 3 more days. It was a big adventure for Calla, who managed very well with all the travelling, crowds, new faces, and general lack of any kind of routine.

Flying out was surprisingly easy and Calla slept most of the way.
The first stop was to visit Yanik's family in Montreal. Grandmaman was so happy to finally meet Calla as were Calla's cousin Xavier, Uncle Sebastien, and Aunt Eve. We hadn't visited in a long time, and it was particularly wonderful to see the charming and chatty little boy Xavier has become. Next stop was the annual Mechoui in the Laurentians, with 35+ of Yanik's family. Here is a photo of four generations:
We travelled next to Sara's dad's place in eastern Ontario, where Calla got a taste of country living. Calla got to meet her other Great-grandmother!

Sara's cousin Tazzie enjoyed holding Calla, despite the ache in her arm afterward!

Just prior to flying home, Sara and Calla visited with friends Katie and Shawn and their 6-month old son Sacha. Sacha was showing us his new, near-crawling moves.

The flight home for Sara and Calla went smoothly as well, with Calla sleeping most of the way. The airport scene was less fun: Calla was screaming furiously as the security guy passed the wand all over both of us, after the metal rings of the baby sling set off the metal-detector...!
