9 weeks!
On Wednesday, Calla was 9 weeks old and we had our final visit with our midwife. We were a little sad to say goodbye, because we had such a wonderful experience, excellent care through the pregnancy, birth, and post-birth, and every visit was such a pleasure. But we hope to be back in a couple years!
Sara is fully recovered and feeling great. Calla is a very healthy baby and, as we've seen (and felt with our tiring arms...) she is gaining weight well. She now weighs 13lb 9oz and is 25 inches long. Go Calla!
We've moved Calla into her own room (about 5 feet away from us, as those of you who have seen our tiny apartment know!) and she has now slept 2 nights in her big crib. She does have Pooh and the gang watching over her and providing entertainment when she wakes up. In fact, just over the last couple days, Calla has really started to look deliberately, and with interest, at things (other than people) and her mobile friends elicit many big smiles.
The crib seems to be working well, and she slept 9 and 9.5 hours in a row the last 2 nights (shhh, don't tell the other new parents...). Don't worry, we know we are spoiled by Calla! Several friends have been asking what the secret is, but it does not seem to be related to anything we do or don't do - she has slept well at night from the beginning. We've been reluctant to declare this a pattern though, because she may very well surprise us tonight!

Took the words out of our mouths. We've got an easy baby at nights but don't want to jinx it by talking about it. Oh, and by the way - let us know if you get tired of us commenting. We love checking in on Calla though!
Way to go sleeping Calla.... what a good girl you are!! Keep up the good work. Don't be too worried about jinxing it, the sleeping babies tend to keep sleeping and I guess we can all just consider ourselves very lucky ;) A good night sleep for mom and dad makes all the difference in the world.
